A fire gutted 62 doors of a 55-year-old longhouse in Simpang Nu, Batu Niah. Police seized about RM92,000 worth of suspected untaxed cigarettes and alcohol during a Bau raid. A 56-year-old fishing boat owner was injured while trying to put out a fire on his own vessel in Miri. The boat, about 60 feet long and 14 feet wide, was already fully on fire. The owner, Ting Tiew Hing, suffered light burns on his right cheek and right arm while trying to fight the fire before firefighters arrived. His family later took him to hospital.
