Firefighters rescued two people in separate crashes on Tuesday night, including an unconscious teenage driver in Kota Samarahan. Police seized 25kg of suspected methamphetamine in MJC Batu Kawah, with a 63-year-old man arrested. He tested negative for drugs, but police said he had previous records under the Entertainment Ordinance and the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. The suspect has been remanded until Thursday. A 52-year-old Bidayuh man from Bau has been identified with one of the world's rarest blood types. They can only receive blood from another person with the same Bombay blood group. That is why proper screening and donor registration matter so much. A major northern Sarawak road project is moving faster than planned, with Phase 1 now about 10-15% ahead of schedule. Sarawak commercial crime cases went up sharply in the first half of this year, with losses now at RM90.4 million. A contractor escaped unharmed after a telecommunications tower caught fire along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway on Monday evening. Two checked-baggage drug smuggling attempts were stopped at Kuching International Airport, with Customs seizing drugs worth about RM1.32 million. Forty-nine people tested positive for drugs in a Bintulu AADK operation covering eight hotspot areas. Two suspects have been arrested after a robbery case that caused injuries at Jalan Canna, Kuching. Kuching police arrested one rider, impounded 24 motorcycles and issued 129 summonses during an overnight operation against illegal street racing at Jalan Astana. A senior officer and 11 personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division inspected 92 people and 80 motorcycles. A 22-year-old local man was detained for suspected reckless and dangerous riding under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. His motorcycle was seized for further action. Another 24 motorcycles were impounded under Section 60, while the summonses covered various traffic offences. Why the numbers matter The arrest was one part of a wider enforcement operation. An impounded motorcycle does not automatically mean every owner was racing; police may hold a vehicle for inspection or action over roadworthiness, registration or modifications. Likewise, a summons is an allegation or notice that still follows the legal process. Piling work at a Tudan construction site in Miri was stopped after a flammable gas leak was detected.
