Sarawak's assembly approved a further RM120,003,793 in ordinary expenditure on October 14, covering ministry and department services left unfunded or short of funds in earlier 2026 estimates. The Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026 passed without amendments after consideration by the Committee of Supply and a third reading, DayakDaily reported. This is additional provision for the current year, separate from the 2027 budget tabled on October 12. The expenditure details are set out in Command Paper No. 10 of 2026; the second supplementary estimate is in Command Paper No. 9. Those documents, rather than the headline total alone, identify the purposes of the extra funding. The assembly had already approved RM1.323 billion in extra ordinary expenditure and RM391 million in development expenditure in May. Today's RM120 million approval concerns ordinary expenditure: it is not a new household cash-aid announcement or proof that the full allocation has already been spent.

The Sarawak Teachers' Union is asking the state government to consider at least RM2,000 in special financial assistance for federal civil servants serving in Sarawak under the State Budget 2027. The union's request also sets out a one-month salary bonus for state civil servants as an alternative proposal. Neither figure is an approved payment announced by the government. For staff in Kuching and other Sarawak districts, the distinction is between a union's budget request and an entitlement they can already claim. In its account published on October 10, the union said the request was intended to recognise federal employees' contribution to the state's development. It recalled that state civil servants received a two-month salary bonus last year, while federal civil servants received RM700 in special assistance. Those earlier amounts are background to the request, not confirmation of this year's payment. The proposal covers federal civil servants serving in Sarawak, not teachers alone. Any payment amount, eligibility and disbursement date would still depend on a state government decision; the request itself provides no application window or payment timetable.

Rules for replacing overlapping public holidays are on the agenda when the Sarawak Legislative Assembly sits from October 12 to 21. The Speaker said at an October 9 pre-sitting press conference in Kuching that a Public Holidays amendment would clarify the replacement mechanism when two public holidays fall on the same day. This is a bill to be tabled, not an announcement of an additional day off. Employers and families planning their calendars still need the final provisions and any subsequent official holiday notice. The sitting will also consider the Sarawak State Library amendment. It aims to streamline governance and allow a memorial archive preserving material on notable figures, events, heritage, culture and state history. Establishing the legal basis for an archive is separate from opening a new public facility. Four bills are scheduled in all. The other two are the Supply Bill for the 2027 State Budget and supplementary supply for 2026. The Speaker described this as the final sitting of the current term; the announcement did not give an election date.

Sarawak households and businesses will have to wait for the coming State Budget for details on electricity tariffs, Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said in Mukah on October 3. He said the Budget would set out the state’s revenue outlook and electricity-tariff direction during the coming Sarawak Legislative Assembly sitting, scheduled for October 12–21. His remarks did not set out a new rate, an effective date or which customer categories would be affected. That distinction matters for anyone planning household expenses or business operating costs: a promise to explain tariff policy is not itself an announced increase or a guarantee that charges will stay unchanged. Abang Johari put state revenue at about RM14 billion, compared with roughly RM6 billion to RM7 billion under an earlier administration. He linked the stronger revenue base to Sarawak’s ability to fund its own development projects rather than rely entirely on federal assistance. The next concrete details will be in the Budget presentation — the proposed spending, revenue assumptions and any specific electricity measures. The October 3 speech did not provide the full allocations or tariff schedule.
