Families in Tebedu should prepare for home-based learning on Monday, Oct 26: 27 schools will close because of haze, while face-to-face classes for SPM candidates will continue with masks. The Sarawak Education Department’s Oct 25 statement, reported by Bernama, covers one secondary and 26 primary schools. Teachers and support staff may work from home during the closure. The instruction also extends to primary and secondary schools in districts recording Air Pollutant Index readings above 200 after the statement. It is not a blanket closure of every school in Sarawak. Institutions are to monitor readings through the Department of Environment’s APIMS portal. Parents who are concerned about the haze may keep their children at home, provided they inform the school. For families with SPM candidates, the continued face-to-face arrangement is the important exception to check with their school. Schools can prepare to reopen when readings show a downward trend below 200. That condition is not an announcement that Tebedu schools will automatically reopen on Tuesday.

Farm-access road projects in Kampung Pichin, Kampung Jenan and Kampung Payau Burus have been completed and handed over, with a combined cost of RM450,000. The three Tebedu projects fall under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP). A Sarawak Public Communication Unit report, carried by DayakDaily, records the handover of the sites and project documents to the respective community chiefs at all three locations on October 6. These are agricultural access roads, aimed at helping farmers and smallholders reach their land and move produce out of farms and plantations. They are not an announcement of a new main-road link or a general road upgrade throughout Tebedu. The Serian Department of Irrigation and Drainage was represented at the handovers. RM450,000 is the total for the three projects, not the cost of each road. The report does not give individual road lengths, separate contract values or measured savings in transport time.

Work has begun on a RM2.1 million Sungai Kayan riverbank project in Kampung Krusen Kranji, eight months after heavy rain triggered a landslide that cut the village’s main access road. The Sept 2 site handover starts a 12-month construction period ending Sept 1, 2027. The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee is funding the job, while the Drainage and Irrigation Department’s Serian office is responsible for implementation and monitoring. The January landslide also damaged a suspension bridge at Kampung Krusen Siu. Authorities warned residents then not to use it; its RM900,000 replacement is still at final document-assessment stage and has no announced start date. Four smaller allocations have also been approved: RM150,000 for solar power in three Krusen villages, RM100,000 each for the Kampung Krusen Mawang community hall and village road, and RM280,000 for the Awah Gawai facility in Krusen Siu. Their schedules have not been announced.
