The Sejingkat Bridge opened to the public on October 5, adding a direct crossing between the Kota Samarahan and Sejingkat sides of the Sarawak River. DayakDaily reported the opening after the ceremony. The newsroom report puts the bridge at 1.281 kilometres and identifies it as part of the Second Trunk Road. It is one of Sarawak’s 21 planned mega-bridges; 12 have now been completed, according to the report. For people travelling between Samarahan and Sejingkat, the bridge is available now. The wider DC3 road package is separate and remains unfinished, with completion expected by the end of 2027. The new crossing should not be mistaken for a completed continuous route onward to Sadong and Sri Aman.

Carimin Petroleum’s 90%-owned subsidiary Sri Borneo Energy has proposed to buy a 7.246-hectare leasehold property in Sejingkat, Kuching, for RM21.12 million. The site includes factory and fabrication facilities, and the company plans to restart metal fabrication and galvanising there. The deal is not yet complete. The title currently restricts the land to dockyard use, and the transfer requires written consent from the Sarawak minister responsible for land. Carimin expects completion within 12 months, subject to approval. The proposed return of industrial capacity is the local point; no production restart date or employment numbers have been announced. A signed sale agreement should not be read as a completed transfer or a confirmed opening.

Sejingkat Bridge on track for an Oct 1 soft opening. The RM365.7 million Sejingkat Bridge is on track for a soft opening on Oct 1. The new crossing over the Sarawak River will provide a direct alternative for traffic from Serian and Kota Samarahan heading towards Petra Jaya and industrial areas on the northern side of the river. At present, that traffic has to pass through Kuching city centre, adding to congestion. Uggah described the bridge as a major game changer for Kuching. He said the contractor had not reported major manpower or funding concerns, while favourable weather had helped construction progress. Until an official opening or traffic notice is issued, residents should keep using the current arrangements and watch for the next construction or approval milestone.

The 1.2km bridge is being positioned as a major new link for Kuching and Sarawak's Second Trunk Road network. The original completion date was October 22, but the remaining works are now mainly focused on road approaches at Sejingkat and Tanjung Bako. Why it matters Once completed, the bridge is expected to handle about 15,000 vehicles a day. It will connect Sejingkat, Kuching to the wider Second Trunk Road network, giving travellers from coastal and interior areas a stronger route into Kuching.
