Serian is getting a major power upgrade, with a RM223.5 million substation now under construction.

The new 275/132/33kV Serian Substation is meant to strengthen electricity supply reliability in Serian Division as demand grows.
Utility and Telecommunications Minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the project started on Dec 1 last year and is scheduled for completion on June 30, 2028.
What it covers
The substation will add more injection capacity into the state grid and help reduce the risk of future power disruptions.
According to Julaihi, the upgraded network will benefit Serian town, Tebedu, Gedong, Lundu and parts of Samarahan Division up to Simunjan.
Physical construction is now at 12 per cent and still on schedule.
