More than 500 trees are being retained for relocation ahead of the planned dual-carriageway from the Yayasan Sarawak roundabout to Damai Santubong, while more than 1,000 are expected to be felled towards year-end. Kuching North mayor Dato Hilmy Othman said DBKU was handling the transplantation exercise and working with other agencies to identify relocation sites. Some trees could not be saved because of their age and deteriorated condition, The Borneo Post reported on Oct 17. The tree-management work is preparation for the highway project, rather than a sign that the new road has been completed. For people living along the northern Kuching corridor, the next practical details will be the exact clearance dates and any traffic arrangements; neither timetable was given in the report. Hilmy gave the update on Oct 16 at Darul Husnul Khatimah Mosque during a ceremony marking the completion of upgrading works on Jalan Tan Sri Abang Ikhwan Zaini. He said DBKU would also explore flowering plants and potted trees to further beautify that road, subject to securing funding.

The new road from Teku Pasai Siong to Kemuyang in Sibu is targeting completion in September 2027, with an elevated arch section designed to carry the route across swampy ground. An October 8 report on the Public Works Department's latest update puts Package 1 at 6.172 kilometres. Within that road package, the elevated arch structure is described as 704 metres long. The two figures refer to the full new-road package and one particular structure, not two alternative measurements of the same section. JKR says the elevated design addresses soft ground and the risk of settlement. The point of the raised section is therefore the terrain it crosses, rather than an extra river crossing. The route is intended to improve access between the Teku Pasai Siong and Kemuyang areas once finished. The department's director discussed the engineering approach in an October 7 social-media update following a recent site inspection. DayakDaily reports that construction is progressing according to schedule, but gives no numerical completion percentage or public opening date. September 2027 remains the construction target. The update does not mean the new route is open to motorists, and it supplies no present-day journey-time figure to compare with the existing roads.

The RM170 million Menalun–Sungai Poi road project in Kanowit is moving into Phase 3, but the full route is still targeted for completion only in 2030. Phases 1 and 2 have been completed. The latest phase began with a groundbreaking on Aug 29 and involves a 3.6-kilometre road through hilly terrain. It carries an allocation of RM46.11 million and a contract value of RM39.96 million, and does not include bridges or extend as far as the school. Phase 4 remains at the design stage. The RM58.4 million allocation covers another 2.6 kilometres and two bridges, with the planned route connecting Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Poi and the longhouses Rumah Panjang Gani and Rumah Panjang Tarang. The project is meant to improve access for remote communities and essential services, but the 2030 date is a completion target that depends on the remaining phases being delivered. The road should not be treated as a fully open connection yet; the next milestones are Phase 3 progress and a firm construction plan for Phase 4.

A direct Sibu–Dalat road could cut travel time, but the project is still at the planning stage. Dalat assemblywoman Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the proposed 13.1km route should be prioritised to improve connectivity for residents and businesses. It would connect Kampung Kekan Seberang, Kut Muara, Sungai Pinang, Bungan Besar and Rassau, and be built to R3 road standards. The Sarawak government-funded component is estimated at RM140 million and is expected to be tendered in the first quarter of 2027. A separate 9km federal component, estimated at RM131 million, is undergoing detailed design and land-related works, with tender targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to approvals. At present, travellers between Sibu and Dalat use longer routes via Selangau, Mukah and Oya, or Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu, Igan and Oya. Fatimah said the direct link would make travel easier and support local development.
