Batu Kitang water treatment plant getting a massive RM138.9 million upgrade — capacity to double from 100MLD to 200MLD by end of this year.
The project, which has reached 67% completion, will significantly boost water supply for Kuching Division, Samarahan Division, and surrounding areas.
Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the upgrade will also help fix recurring low water pressure issues in fast-growing areas like Stakan and Samarindah.

Scope of works includes:
Upgrading treatment processes (flocculation, sedimentation, filtration)
SCADA automation system upgrade
New treated water storage tank and pumping station
Enhanced raw water intake system at Sarawak River
The upgraded facility will also benefit parts of Samarahan including Sungai Mata and Tanjung Parang, plus areas under JBALB's rural water distribution system.
