Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state-owned airline is not driven mainly by profit, but by stabilising airfares between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
Location: Kuching International Airport
Details:
AirBorneo launched its inaugural Kuching-Kuala Lumpur jet service on July 20.
The RM375 all-inclusive one-way fare is expected to stay for at least the first year if conditions allow.
The airline starts with two aircraft and aims to grow to four within the next four to five months.
New-generation ATR aircraft are expected next year to replace ageing turboprops inherited from MASwings.
Abang Johari also suggested using future ATR routes to help university students travel more affordably.
