7 Houses Destroyed, 44 Displaced in Early Morning Fire at Tabuan Hilir, Kuching

A pre-dawn fire in Tabuan Hilir destroyed six homes and damaged a seventh on June 28, leaving 44 residents from six families without a place to stay.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received the call at 3.41am and reached the scene four minutes later. Twenty-eight firefighters from Tabuan Jaya, Padungan and Batu Lintang stations responded with five vehicles. The fire was brought under control at 4.44am and the operation ended at 7.08am.
Photo: DayakDailySix non-permanent houses were completely destroyed, while another was about 30 per cent damaged. Three motorcycles were also lost. Everyone escaped safely and no injuries or deaths were reported.

The 44 affected residents included children, but the published reports did not provide a public list of the families or an official donation account. The cause of the fire and estimated losses were still under investigation when the reports were published.
