去民都鲁，我会故意留一段没有排节目的傍晚。Tanjung Batu Beach 不需要塞进一整套活动：沿海边走一小段，找个地方坐坐，等天色慢慢换掉，再回市区吃晚餐。对已经在民都鲁过夜的人来说，这种不用赶下一站的空档，反而比多打一个卡更有用。

如果已经住在民都鲁，我会把这里独立排成晚餐前的小停留，海边散步结束再吃饭。从古晋出发，则适合放进民都鲁过夜行程，不为这一段海岸专程长途来回。它补的是一段放空时间，不是用来代替一整天的森林或自然探索。

I would leave the last part of a Bintulu afternoon unbooked. At Tanjung Batu Beach, the useful attraction is not a long list of activities but the chance to stop moving: a short shoreline walk, somewhere to sit, and an open view of the sea before dinner. For a visitor passing through town, that is a better fit than trying to turn every spare hour into another excursion.

The small tree-covered rocky outcrops give this stretch its character. In daylight, they break up the view between sand, stone and water; against an evening sky, the trees become silhouettes. I would use them as a reason to slow down rather than as a target to scramble towards. A photograph taken from the shore can tell the story without anyone needing to step onto wet rocks.

This is a recreational beach in Bintulu, not a remote island escape. The appeal is that locals and visitors can use the same modest stretch of coast for a picnic or an easy pause. Food and drink stalls are part of the beach strip, including coconut drinks. I would treat anything bought there as an optional extra, not plan dinner around a particular stall being open: individual trading hours and prices can change.

That wider view is useful when deciding how much time to give the stop. I would allow around 45 minutes to an hour for a gentle walk and a sit, then leave the rest flexible. That is my itinerary choice, not a fixed walking route or an official visit duration. If someone in the group wants a longer walk, agree on a meeting point rather than making everyone complete the same distance.

For families, I would favour the landward part of the outing: looking at the coast, having a drink, taking a few photographs and staying together. Calm-looking water in a photograph is not a swimming-safety assessment. I would not make swimming, snorkelling or boat hire the purpose of this visit, and would follow any signs or instructions on site. When waves, rain or thunder make the coast uncomfortable, the sunset plan can simply be dropped.

I would also keep the camera expectations realistic. The daytime and sunset scenes here are different views, not a promise of what the sky or tide will look like on arrival. A cloudy evening can still work for a short break; it is less suitable if the whole journey depends on producing one bright-orange photograph. Bring water and sun protection, and keep footwear on around the rocky edges.

For someone already staying in Bintulu, this makes sense as a separate late-afternoon pause before an evening meal. From Kuching, I would include it in a wider Bintulu stay, not make the long trip solely for a beach walk. It is a place for a little unstructured time, rather than a substitute for a full-day nature itinerary.

For navigation, use Pantai Tanjung Batu Bintulu, 97000 Bintulu, Sarawak. Find the beach on Google Maps. I would check the weather before leaving and keep the return journey arranged, especially if staying until dusk. Do not confuse this location with similarly named beaches elsewhere in Malaysia.

My preference would be to arrive with enough daylight to choose a comfortable spot, then let the evening decide how long to stay. Would you bring a picnic, or save your appetite for dinner in town?

Bukit Saban共350名居民领取砂拉越土地法典第18条下的地契，土地拥有权获得正式确认。颁发仪式于10月29日、星期四在Spaoh民众会堂举行。

A land-title presentation in Spaoh has formalised ownership for 350 Bukit Saban residents under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.

The titles were handed over at Dewan Masyarakat Spaoh on Thursday, Oct 29, according to a Borneo Post report citing the Sarawak Public Communications Unit. The constituency covered is Bukit Saban; the community hall was the presentation venue, not the location of every titled plot.

Betong’s Land and Survey Division said 488 individual lots covering about 929.7 hectares had been surveyed across six areas in the constituency. These included Ulu Bayor Rimbas, Ulu Rimbas Asal and Baru, Inar, Ulu Paku, Kampung Hulu Spaoh and a separate Ulu Paku area under the Jubilee Occupations Ticket pilot.

The figures describe different things: 350 residents receiving titles and 488 surveyed lots. They should not be read as 488 recipients or as proof that every surveyed lot was titled in this ceremony.

The division also outlined hand-held GPS surveying and Jubilee Occupations Ticket pilot work to extend surveying and title issuance. Those pilot statistics are separate progress measures, not extra recipients to add to the ceremony’s total. For landholders, the useful distinction is between a plot being surveyed and a title actually being issued.

Repairs at SJK Bintawa in Kuching have addressed three everyday problems: a leaking walkway roof, inadequate cover at waiting areas and damaged drain covers.

The completed work includes roof repairs, extended shelter over the walkway and waiting areas, and replacement drain covers inside the school compound. For pupils moving between these spaces, the changes concern both protection from rain and the condition of the surfaces beside their route.

Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said in an Oct 29 media release that the work followed concerns raised by the principal during an earlier inspection with teachers and pupils. The announcement records completed repairs, rather than a promise of a future upgrade; it does not give a separate completion date.

两队此前在Malaysia Rocket CanSat Competition 2026各自组别拿下第三名，取得这次国际赛资格。已经确定的成绩是全国赛组别季军，并不是泰国赛事的奖项。

泰国比赛于10月28日至11月1日在当地National Science Museum举行。截至10月30日的报道，两队正处于参赛阶段，报道没有公布国际赛最终名次。古晋SMK Padungan学生与另一支砂拉越校队的这次进展，也让本地STEM学习有了从训练到竞赛的具体路径。

两队的起点是Sarawak Rocketeers CanSat Challenge，由Tegas联同Universiti Teknologi Mara的MTC High Energy Material Research Laboratory推动。CanSat要求学生研制紧凑的类卫星装置，运用工程、科技及解决问题的能力；它是一项实践学习与竞赛任务，不等于已经把正式卫星送上轨道。

Their route began with the Sarawak Rocketeers CanSat Challenge, organised by Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) with Universiti Teknologi Mara’s MTC High Energy Material Research Laboratory. That gives the local achievement a concrete progression: a Sarawak hands-on programme, national category placings and now an international test.

CanSat tasks centre on a compact satellite-like device, putting engineering, technology and problem-solving into practice. For the participating schools, this is a chance to test those skills against regional competitors, rather than a claim that pupils have launched an operational satellite.

A family business built around the moist version

Mira's starting point was kek lapis basah, not simply an ever-longer list of brightly striped cakes. Moistness is the distinction from regular kek lapis that shaped the business. Its range has since grown to more than 50 flavours and designs, and it now ships cakes nationwide.

That wider reach does not make every box interchangeable. For someone new to Sarawak cake, I would start by asking which available cake best represents the original basah style, then compare it with one flavour you already enjoy. Horlicks, chocolate cheese and the original Lapis Book are among the names in Mira's range; ask what is available at this counter rather than assume the whole catalogue is on display.

Buy for the journey you actually have

Tasting pieces are part of the attraction here. Ask which samples are available and compare a small selection before buying. The layered patterns make tempting gifts, but flavour and the amount you can finish matter more than assembling the most colourful bag.

The brand also resells local products, including Sarawak laksa paste and traditional snacks, at selected branches. Treat those as optional extras, not something guaranteed at every outlet. The cake remains the reason I would make this stop.

For a flight home or a long drive, ask staff for storage instructions for the exact cake you choose, when it was packed and whether it needs refrigeration during your journey. Do not assume every flavour has the same keeping time. Confirm the size and total at the counter too: different cakes and formats are not a single-price purchase.

This recommendation is for the Kampung Boyan shop across the river from central Kuching. Pin the correct branch before setting out; Mira has other locations. Recheck opening hours for your visit instead of planning around a late-night cake run.

古晋家庭准备屠妖节采购，须看砂拉越适用的顶价，而不是直接套用西马降价项目。2026年佳节统制品最高价格措施将在11月4日至10日实施，涵盖11项必需品。

砂拉越有三类商品的最高价格较去年调低：椰丝、印度小红葱及澳洲扁豆。番茄、红辣椒、整粒椰子、印度玫瑰小红葱和大红葱这五类，则维持原有顶价。

DayakDaily于10月29日刊载马新社有关国内贸易及生活成本部的报道指出，今年清单从九项增至11项，新增椰浆及中国进口马铃薯。马铃薯列明进口来源，不能把所有品种一概视为同一统制项目。

进口带骨羊肉的最高批发及零售价格，则在西马、沙巴、砂拉越和纳闽均上调。各地调整并不完全一样，西马公布的降价清单不等于砂拉越清单。

The Deepavali maximum-price scheme will cover 11 essential items from Nov 4 to 10. In Sarawak, the ceilings for grated coconut, Indian shallots and Australian dhal are lower than under last year's scheme.

Five other Sarawak items—tomatoes, red chillies, whole coconuts, Indian rose shallots and large red onions—retain their previous ceilings. Imported bone-in mutton is the item whose maximum wholesale and retail prices rise across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

DayakDaily carried Bernama's Oct 29 report on the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry announcement. The expanded list adds coconut milk and potatoes imported from China; that origin specification matters when identifying the controlled potatoes.

For Kuching households, the useful comparison is the Sarawak schedule, not the separate list of reductions announced for Peninsular Malaysia. A lower legal ceiling also describes a maximum permitted price, not a promise that every shop's actual selling price will fall by the same amount.

The controls begin on Nov 4, rather than on the announcement date. The report does not provide the numerical price ceilings, so shoppers will need the applicable Sarawak item prices when comparing a bill. 有意转任永久职的合约医生，须留意11月9日至15日的申请期。卫生部这次特别招聘提供沙巴及砂拉越合计750个UD10级医生永久职位，并非砂拉越独得750个名额。

DayakDaily于10月29日报道卫生部当天声明：招聘对象涵盖2016年第1批至2024年第6批开始实习的合约医生，即2016年12月5日至2024年10月14日这段批次范围，合约已经届满者也包括在内。

Applications for 750 permanent Grade UD10 medical officer posts in Sabah and Sarawak will run from Nov 9 to 15, with successful candidates expected to report for duty on Feb 15, 2027.

The Health Ministry's special exercise is for contract medical officers who entered housemanship from Series 1/2016, which began on Dec 5, 2016, through Series 6/2024, which began on Oct 14, 2024. Doctors whose contracts have expired are also included in the eligible group described by the ministry.

There is a second requirement beyond the intake dates: applicants must have completed housemanship and secured full Malaysian Medical Council registration by the advertisement's closing date. Falling within the intake range alone is therefore not enough.

DayakDaily reported the ministry's Oct 29 statement, which directs eligible candidates to the Public Service Commission's SPA9 system once the recruitment advertisement is published. The application window has not opened yet.

For Sarawak, the announcement concerns a workforce recruitment channel, not an immediate increase in staffing at a particular hospital or clinic. The 750 posts cover both states together; the report does not specify the split between them or individual placements. The Feb 15 reporting date is the ministry's expectation, rather than a statement that all positions have already been filled.

Sarawak is aiming for 20,000 homes over the next five years under the 13th Malaysia Plan, with first-time buyers among the intended beneficiaries.

The statewide target is not the size of the housing project handed over in Miri on Oct 29. That separate development, Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) Permyjaya III, comprises 101 single-storey terrace houses with a total scheme value of RM33.9 million.

DayakDaily's Oct 29 report, citing TVS coverage of the handover, said the wider programme would involve the private sector and both the Sarawak and federal governments. Around 3,000 to 4,000 units were built over the previous five years, according to the account.

The standards outlined for the homes include at least 700 square feet of floor space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and parking. For prospective buyers, the announcement therefore covers both the scale of planned supply and the basic accommodation expected—not just a headline unit count.

It does not, however, give a Kuching allocation, selling prices or an application timetable. The RM33.9 million figure belongs to the Miri scheme as a whole; it is not a quoted purchase price for an individual home. Buyers will still need the details of specific developments before they can assess eligibility and affordability.

i-CATS正式采用Sarawak Tun Openg University of Technology新校名，简称TAHOTECH，并于10月29日公布新校徽与企业形象。

i-CATS University College is now Sarawak Tun Openg University of Technology, using the official abbreviation TAHOTECH. Its new name, logo and corporate identity were unveiled on Oct 29.

The change follows recognition as a full university by the Ministry of Higher Education on Oct 20, according to DayakDaily. These are separate milestones: university recognition came first, followed by the public unveiling of the new identity nine days later.

For Sarawak students and families following i-CATS, TAHOTECH refers to that institution’s new identity, not a separately announced university. The report says the ministry approved the name on the recommendation of its board of directors.

The institution’s stated direction centres on skilled graduates, research and technological innovation. Those are development aims; the naming announcement does not itself establish a new course offering, admission deadline or change in fees.

The recognition letter was presented at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex on Oct 20. That ceremony venue should not be confused with a new campus location: the report gives no campus relocation announcement.

面对乡区和偏远地区的上网困难，教育部也提出离线学习方式，让学习不完全受网络条件限制。这对砂拉越部分社区尤其相关，但不等于每间学校已经获配新的数码设备。

有关说明是在吉隆坡国会下议院部长问答环节提出，属于全国课程方向，不是只针对古晋的计划，也没有另列砂拉越学校的独立落实日期。

教师准备工作则是另一环节。《星报》报道，全国已有32万9414名教师接受AI培训，培训仍会继续。这是全国总数，不能当作砂拉越受训人数，更不能据此认定所有本地学校已经具备相同的课堂使用条件。

AI basics will be formally included in primary-school Digital Technology under the 2027 school curriculum, before being reinforced at secondary level, the Education Ministry told Parliament on Oct 29.

For Kuching families, the change concerns what pupils will learn, rather than a new standalone AI examination. See Hua Daily News reported that the curriculum will cover more than technical skills: pupils are to learn to check information, question doubtful answers and exercise judgment.

The ministry also outlined offline learning approaches for rural and remote pupils facing connectivity problems. That matters for Sarawak communities where an Internet-dependent lesson would be difficult to follow; it is not a claim that every school has already received new digital equipment.

The announcement was made during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur. It described a national curriculum direction, not a Kuching-only programme or a separate timetable for Sarawak schools.

Teacher preparation remains part of the wider rollout. The Star reported that 329,414 teachers nationwide had received AI training, with training continuing. That national total does not identify how many trained teachers are in Sarawak or establish that every local school is ready for the same level of classroom use.
