砂拉越预计2030年或有3万人需要临终关怀

砂拉越副总理拿督阿玛沈桂贤医生说，预计到了2030年，砂拉越可能有多达3万人需要临终关怀。
沈桂贤说，州内通过免费的临终关怀中心扩大末期照护服务。该中心由古晋生命关怀协会营运，卫生部医院服务也在中心内提供支援。中心在4月开始服务时设有8张病床，目前已增加至16张。
他说，临终关怀也计划纳入砂拉越癌症中心，该中心目前目标是在2032年投入运作。3万人是预测数字，并非已经确认的病患人数；报道也没有公布全州最终病床目标。
目前较直接的挑战是服务容量：中心扩展速度已超过人力增加速度，而无法负担居家临终照护的家庭仍需要较容易获得的支援。
