Telok Melano has been surveyed as a possible location for a sea-launch facility, but the proposal remains exploratory rather than an approved construction project. Angkasa X's executive chairman described the idea at an IDECS panel discussion in Kuching on October 6. He said the facility could eventually support satellites assembled in Sarawak, while stressing that a launch facility would only make economic sense if the state first developed enough satellite capability and activity. That puts the proposed site within a wider chain of work: satellite research, ground stations, assembly, data processing and commercial applications. These are different functions; identifying a potential launch location does not establish that a working satellite or launch operation is ready. For Telok Melano, the concrete development disclosed so far is the survey. No final approval or facility timetable was announced during the session. The report also does not identify the exact surveyed plot, a construction budget or any public-access changes, so the announcement should not be read as notice of building work or a new restriction in the area.
