A fishing trip in Bau turned fatal after a 29-year-old man fell into Sungai Taman Limbang late Thursday night.
Nailson Phillip was fishing with several friends when he suddenly fell face-first into the river at about 11.30pm.
A friend pulled him out and they took him to Bau Hospital. He was pronounced dead at about 12.23am Friday.
Police said initial checks found no suspicious injuries or signs of criminal elements. The case is being investigated as sudden death, with a post-mortem to determine the cause.
The cause and legal classification should be left to the police, medical team or rescue authorities. Drivers and bystanders should keep clear of the scene, avoid sharing distressing images and pass genuine information directly to investigators.
