Sarawak’s fourth cloud-seeding operation of 2026 runs from October 8 to 10, but the programme does not put every target dam on the same flight schedule.
The Sarawak Public Communication Unit said the first day focused on Zone A: Bakun and Murum in Belaga, and Sika and Assyakirin in the Bintulu area. The operation is intended to support rainfall over dam catchments.
Bengoh, near Kuching, and Batang Ai fall under Zone B. Flights there were planned for reconnaissance first, with subsequent cloud-seeding decisions taking account of the survey findings. The initial sequencing reflects concern that seeding drift could cross into Kalimantan’s airspace.
For Kuching readers, Bengoh’s inclusion identifies a nearby target catchment; it is not confirmation that seeding there has already been completed. The October 8–10 operation window also should not be read as a promise of rain at a particular neighbourhood or time.
This is a separate operation from the earlier September programme. Its immediate focus is the dam catchments, while the useful follow-up will be where seeding actually takes place and what rainfall and reservoir-level changes are subsequently recorded.
