石隆门达雅节游行规模扩大近三倍！2000人、91支队伍参与，多元族群同庆

两年一度的石隆门达雅节游行（Bau Gawai Parade）于5月23日盛大举行，今年吸引了近2000人、91支队伍参与，人数较2024年的800人翻了近三倍。华裔、巫裔与比达友（Bidayuh）族群一同沿着2.8公里路线，在晴朗天气下展现多元文化风采。

砂拉越交通部副部长兼碧湖（Tasik Biru）州议员拿督 Henry Harry Jinep 表示，今年游行特别有意义，因为比达友文化中心已全面完工。他强调，文化中心不应只是建筑，更应是文化活动的「活空间」。

达雅比达友全国协会（DBNA）对中心建设质量表示满意，未来将持续争取更多资金用于改善与文化活动。

The biennial Bau Gawai Parade drew close to 2,000 participants from 91 contingents on May 23, nearly three times its 2024 turnout of 800. Chinese and Malay groups marched alongside the Bidayuh community along a 2.8km route under sunny weather.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) and Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the parade marked the completion of the Bidayuh Cultural Centre, which he described as a "living space for cultural activities."

The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) has expressed satisfaction with the centre's quality.

Kuching (23rd) — A petrol bomb was thrown at a car in the early hours of today, but the homeowner managed to extinguish the fire before it caused major damage, with only 10% of the vehicle burned.

The incident occurred around 5am at Lorong 7, Stapok Selatan. The Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 4:58am and rushed to the scene. By the time they arrived, the homeowner had already brought the fire under control, and firefighters proceeded to fully extinguish the remaining flames.

CCTV footage from the homeowner's residence captured a suspect throwing a petrol bomb from outside the house into the car porch, setting the rear of the vehicle ablaze.

The case has been handed over to the police for investigation.

（古晋23日讯）不法分子清晨抛丢汽油弹烧车，幸屋主及时发现把火扑灭，烧毁程度仅10巴仙。

上述抛汽油弹烧车事故是今日清晨近5时许发生在史达博南段第7巷。巴都林当消防局在4时58分接到求救电话出勤，在抵达现场时火已成功被屋主及时控制，消防员后续把火完全扑灭。

屋主住家安装的闭路电视拍摄到有人从屋外往车房抛丢汽油弹导致汽车后方着火。案件已交由警方着手调查。

The Kuching Waterfront came alive today as the thunder of motorcycle engines filled the air — 600 big bike riders from across Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia gathered for the Borneo Island International Big Bike Festival (BIBBF) 2026.

The convoy, flagged off from Kuching Waterfront, made its way to Kampung Lot Bako for a community engagement programme. Organised by the Borneo Island Big Bikers (BIBB) Sarawak, the event is now in its 24th edition with 1,225 registered participants.

达雅节即将到来，但今年的庆祝气氛明显不同。多名20多岁的砂拉越职场年轻人在受访时表示，生活费高涨让他们的预算更紧，但团聚的意义并未改变。

With Gawai Dayak just around the corner, many young Sarawakians are rethinking how they celebrate. Interviews with working adults in their 20s reveal a common theme — budgets are tighter, priorities have shifted, but the spirit of togetherness remains strong.

• Junior civil engineer Valentine Mapan Jalan, 25, said his family’s celebration will be quieter this year as they prioritise elderly relatives’ well-being. “We don’t need extravagance to show our hospitality,” he said.
• Executive Irvina Joan, 24, noted rising fuel and daily expenses have limited her travel plans to visit relatives in other areas. She credited government aid like STR, SARA, and SKAS for helping ease some financial pressure.
• Administrative assistant Lydia Hyginus, 25, said she cut her Gawai budget this year, skipping new family outfits. “Every moment during Gawai feels precious because it is one of the few times when my whole family can gather,” she said.

Despite the tighter budgets, all three emphasised that the essence of Gawai — family reunions, shared meals, and cultural traditions — remains unchanged.

砂拉越最长的跨河大桥正式通车了！

峇当鲁巴大桥（Jambatan Batang Lupar）已于 2026年5月21日 正式开通，取代了多年来依赖的渡轮服务，连接实巴邀（Sebuyau）与成邦江两岸。

地点： 实巴邀 Sebuyau（古晋省，砂拉越）
全长： 4.8公里 — 砂拉越最长的跨河大桥
节省时间： 渡轮原本需约30分钟，现在只要5分钟

这座大桥是砂拉越在第十二大马计划下大规模基建转型的一部分。在规划的21座主要桥梁中，已有10座通车，预计未来几个月再开放8座。

大桥通车正值哈芝节和达雅节前夕，对成千上万要回乡过节的砂拉越人来说，简直是及时雨！

Sarawak's longest river bridge is now open to the public!

The Batang Lupar Bridge (Jambatan Batang Lupar) officially opened on 21 May 2026, replacing the long-serving ferry service connecting Sebuyau and Sri Aman across the Batang Lupar river.

Location: Sebuyau, Sarawak (Kuching Division)
Length: 4.8km — Sarawak's longest river crossing
Travel time saved: Ferry took ~30 minutes, bridge takes just 5 minutes.

This bridge is part of Sarawak's massive infrastructure transformation under the 12th Malaysia Plan. Out of 21 major bridges planned, 10 have already opened, with 8 more expected in the coming months.

The opening comes just in time for Hari Raya Haji and Gawai Dayak festivities — making balik kampung much easier for thousands of Sarawakians.
