古晋空气指数截至 8 月 24 日早上 8 点达到 175，属于不健康水平。
砂拉越共有 5 个地区在早上 8 点录得不健康空气指数：实文然 189、古晋 175、三马拉汉 170、斯里阿曼 158，以及民都鲁 108。古晋当时是 175，比星期日下午 4 点的 177 稍微下降。

古晋南市政局（MBKS）8 月 23 日在肯雅兰巴刹和双溪阿邦巴刹派发口罩。儿童、长者和对空气污染较敏感的人，应减少不必要的户外活动，外出戴合适口罩、补充水分；如果出现呼吸困难或其他不适，应尽快求医。
对必须外出的居民来说，重点是口罩是否贴合脸部；密合的 N95、KN95 或 KF94，通常比松身口罩更能减少吸入细颗粒物。长者、儿童和心肺疾病患者在空气不健康时应减少户外活动。
