古晋一名49岁男子遭冒充朋友的WhatsApp诈骗，损失RM104,310。
男子在8月13日收到“朋友”发来的信息，对方要求他为购买货物先付款。他信以为真，在8月13日至15日期间，分4次把钱汇入3个银行户头。
直到8月15日，真正的朋友才告诉他，自己的WhatsApp账号疑似被骇，而且从未要求他汇款。
古晋县警区主任 Alexson Naga Chabu助理警监表示，案件目前援引刑事法典第420条文调查。罪成可面对1年至10年监禁、鞭笞及罚款。
警方提醒民众，遇到可疑来电要马上挂断，不要向陌生人透露个人或银行资料。付款前，也可以通过皇家警察的Semak Mule平台，检查可疑银行户头和电话号码。
即使讯息看起来来自朋友，也应先用通讯录原号码回拨，或找另一位共同认识的人核实，再决定是否付款；对方给出户口后，也可以先用 Semak Mule 查询。
已经付款的人不要等对方回复，应立即联系银行并拨打 997。
