Kota Samarahan 的 Merdang 原住民社区正准备发起一场和平街头抗议，指控该区的新开发项目名称正逐渐抹去当地的历史地名。
代表社区的原住民权益活动家 Peter John Jaban 表示，他们对「Bandar Riyal」和「Taman Samarindah」这些名称的使用感到担忧，质疑这些命名是否经过社区同意。
「没有 Sungai Samarindah，也没有 Sungai Bandar Riyal。Sungai Merdang 是这片土地地理和历史的一部分，」他说。
社区要求当局公开说明：谁提议和批准了这些名字？Merdang 社区是否被咨询过？为什么 Merdang 这个原名在官方地图和记录中逐渐消失？
