Jalan Ma Onn upgrade under way; Sungai Tengah 5 works already completed
-
Road widening and raising at Jalan Ma Onn began on Oct 12 and is expected to take about five months, while the separate Jalan Sungai Tengah 5 upgrade was completed on Sept 11.
The Padawan Municipal Council gave the two different project timelines in an Oct 23 statement reported by DayakDaily. The Jalan Ma Onn works follow residents’ concerns about flash flooding and are intended to improve road conditions as well as reduce that risk.
The five-month estimate is subject to weather and site conditions. It is a construction estimate, not a guarantee that flooding will end by a fixed date. For people using Jalan Ma Onn, the relevant point is that this remains an active works project.
At Jalan Sungai Tengah 5, widening was carried out to address a narrow road and improve access. Council representatives visited the finished project on Oct 23 for a contractor briefing; that visit was not its completion date.
The announcement therefore covers one road still being upgraded and another where the widening is already finished. It does not give a detailed lane-closure or diversion schedule for Jalan Ma Onn.
