RM300 ploughing incentive extended to Sarawak paddy farmers; harvest support doubled

Sarawak and Sabah paddy farmers are to be included in the RM300 ploughing incentive under Budget 2027.
The Prime Minister and Finance Minister announced the expansion in the Dewan Rakyat on October 9, alongside a doubling of the harvesting incentive from RM50 to RM100 per hectare per season. The two measures cover different farming costs: preparing the land and harvesting the crop.
The federal budget provides RM2.62 billion in overall assistance for rice farmers. The minister described support of around RM4,300 per hectare across seed, fertiliser, pesticide and ploughing subsidies, together with paddy price support. That figure is a package of support measures, not an announced single cash payment of RM4,300 to every farmer.
The report does not set out an application window or the detailed eligibility and payment arrangements for the expanded ploughing incentive. Sarawak growers therefore have a new inclusion announcement, but not yet the operational details needed to establish what a particular farm can claim.
