老城拟划文化遗产区，砂拉越将制定保护法

古晋老城区未来可能划设新的文化遗产保护区，砂拉越也计划制定保护老建筑与古迹的新法。
目前被列入考虑的范围包括甘蜜路、老巴刹（Main Bazaar）和印度街，旧法院、圆塔、方塔、印度清真寺、圣若瑟座堂及圣多马座堂等地标也会接受评估。私人拥有的老店屋同样可能纳入保护检视。
州政府表示，提出法案前会先与业主沟通；若建筑日后正式列入保护名单，可能面对保养与美化要求。首阶段重点是辨识需要保育的建筑与地点，并参考槟城及马六甲的保育做法，申报联合国教科文组织世界遗产则属于更长远的目标。
目前公布的是规划方向，并不是已经生效的分区地图或法令。店主和居民仍需等候正式名单、咨询安排与法案内容，不能把“考虑中”理解为已经完成列管。
