Lunch at The House Café in Pending is built around a practical promise: a handmade noodle bowl before the workday moves on. At 6129 Happy Noodle, that bowl is Heng Hua Pah Mee, but the story behind it is more layered than the name suggests. Pamela Kho carries a Fujian noodle tradition through a family shaped by both Heng Hua and Baba Nyonya cooking. She then stepped away from the food trade for about a decade to work a 9-to-5 job in Kuala Lumpur, returned to Kuching permanently in 2015, and opened this stall in 2019. That pause and return explain why the bowl reads as a revival of household skill rather than a generic noodle-shop signature. The Baba Nyonya influence comes from her father’s side, while the core technique came through her mother. The signature order is handmade wheat noodles in Kho’s house broth, with pork, seaweed, a poached egg, peanuts and spring onions. That ingredient set makes it a fuller, layered bowl rather than a bare noodle order; I would choose it when pork and a substantial broth are the point. She also serves KL Mee Pork, bitter-gourd pork noodles and daily specials, with more than 20 items overall. Regular office workers and nearby residents helped keep the stall going after the MCO, so lunch is the stretch to plan around.
