Parents or guardians of children turning 12 are also advised to wait before making a first-MyKad application, so the child can receive the new version when it becomes available. For Kuching residents, a routine trip to an NRD counter during this window may not produce a card immediately. Urgent cases are not covered by the advice to postpone, so applicants should check with JPN before travelling and follow its official updates for the next issuance arrangements.
