Sarawak is exploring possible cooperation with Russia on rocket and satellite launches, Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said in Kuching on Sunday.
The proposal was raised by Russian ambassador Naiyl M. Latypov during a courtesy call last week, the Premier said, according to Bernama. Sarawak's location near the Equator was cited in the report.
Speaking at the opening of the Gurdwara Sahib Kuching extension, Abang Johari said Sarawak needed more engineers and was prepared to explore cooperation to build its pool of professionals. The report did not announce a launch site, signed agreement or project timetable.
