Some Kuching stops are not for noise. This one is for slowing down.

Kuching Heroes Cemetery sits near the Jalan Budaya / Taman Budaya side of town. It is a small place, but the mood is very different from the usual waterfront walk. You do not need a long itinerary here. Come in the daytime, walk quietly, read the names, and let the place do its job.

The first thing people should know: this is not a 'fun attraction'. It is a short, respectful stop for anyone who wants to understand Sarawak's memory beyond food, river views and old shoplots.

So the 'review' for this place is simple: if you are looking for entertainment, skip it. If you like local history, military stories, or quiet memorial places, this stop has weight. A few minutes here feels more meaningful when you already know who Kanang was and why Sarawakians still recognise his name.

    Practical notes:

    • Area: Jalan Budaya / Taman Budaya, Kuching
    • Best time: Daytime, preferably morning or late afternoon
    • Fee: Free
    • Time needed: Around 10 to 20 minutes
    • Etiquette: Keep your voice down, avoid stepping over graves, and do not photograph people who may be paying respects

Pair it with a quiet walk around Reservoir Park or nearby museum areas if you are already in this side of the city. Not every stop needs to be loud to be worth remembering.
