Dawn walks, Saturday music & wildlife charity | Kuching, 24–25 Oct
-
Early start or late night? Kuching’s 24–25 October weekend has both: a museum heritage walk, a free WAK music session and a wildlife-themed charity run. The important distinction: the run’s registration deadline has already passed, so this is not a list of three guaranteed walk-in activities.
All times below are Kuching time (UTC+8).
Saturday, 24 October — Sarawak Museum Heritage Walk
Time: 6:00am flag-off
Start and finish: Borneo Cultures Museum, KuchingThis 4.8km walk connects the Sarawak Museum’s Old Building, Tugu Pahlawan (Makam Pahlawan), the Air Raid Shelter, St Thomas’s Cathedral and the Natural History Museum. It is a good fit if you would rather give the old city some attention than rush between photo stops.
The listed fee is RM50, including a T-shirt and medal. Registration is through the organiser’s poster QR code; availability of last-minute places is not confirmed. Before setting an early alarm, check with the listed contact, Mohamad Noor, on 013-3549710. Do not assume you can register at the starting line.

Saturday, 24 October — SIDEWALK RHYTHMS
Time: 8:00pm–10:00pm
Venue: Drunk Monkey, 68 Carpenter Street, Kuching
Listed admission: FreeWAK Festival’s music programme brings Sarawak’s musical heritage together with contemporary sounds. If a 6am start is not your kind of weekend, this is the evening option to keep on your list.
Choose the 24 October session when checking the programme. The series also has a 31 October date at The Nobleman Bar & Dine; that is a different weekend and venue, not a second stop for this Saturday. Check the current event page before heading out, especially if bringing children or needing specific access arrangements.

Sunday, 25 October — RUN TO PROTECT Endangered Species 2026 Charity Run 4.0
Time: 6:00am–10:00am
Venue: MBKS Foyer, Jalan Padungan, Kuching
Organiser: Kuching Love Book AssociationThis wildlife-themed charity run is the Sunday pick for readers who already have a confirmed entry. The organiser’s Ticket2U page lists 25 October, and says registration closed on 29 September. Do not turn up expecting to buy a race entry on the day.
Already registered? Check your race-kit instructions and the organiser’s latest notices before leaving. For everyone else, the Saturday music session is the simpler option to investigate rather than planning around an unconfirmed race place.

I would pick one anchor activity, not try to force all three into the weekend. Two 6am starts with a Saturday night out between them is a fairly ambitious plan. Keep the organiser links handy for any changes before travelling.
