Police said the suspect, in his 50s, was picked up at the Miri Airport terminal around 5.30pm on Monday by a team from Miri police headquarters.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the arrest came through cooperation and information sharing between the Royal Malaysia Police and the Royal Brunei Police Force.

What happened

The man is suspected of being involved in placing skimming devices on ATM machines in Brunei Darussalam.

He was handed over to Brunei police the same day for further action and investigation under Brunei law.

Police also reminded the public to check ATM card slots, keypads and other parts of the machine before making transactions. If something looks suspicious, avoid using the machine and alert the bank or police.
