The Borneo Post reports that licensed crocodile hunters worked with Sarawak Forestry Corporation personnel. A team spokesperson said the sightings were a concern particularly for fishermen using the river.

The team placed 33 baits on Monday afternoon, October 12, and found seven had been taken when it checked them on Tuesday. All seven captured crocodiles were male, the spokesperson said; their reported lengths ranged from 8.3 to 17.2 feet.

This is a result from the Marudi stretch of the Baram River, not a Kuching river alert. The report does not identify the exact capture points or announce that the river is now free of crocodiles. Seven captures cannot establish how many remain along the waterway.
