Mohd Kamaruzam Sabin’s stall at Best Friend Cafe starts with a morning bowl of sup tulang, then returns to its satay rhythm when the evening crowd arrives. It is a useful name to keep if your itinerary passes through this part of Kuching and you prefer a familiar coffee-shop setting over a destination restaurant.

The morning menu includes sup tulang, mee jawa and ayam penyet. The sup tulang comes with bone, meat and a dark savoury broth, with rice on the side; I would make this the first choice on a cooler morning and arrive before lunch, because the stall’s daytime service ends early. Mohd Kamaruzam has been serving food around RH Plaza for 22 years, so this is a long-running stall rather than a newly surfaced pop-up.

Ayam penyet gives the lunch visit a more filling direction, while mee jawa is the easier noodle option if you want something substantial without committing to a bowl of soup. The menu is broad enough for a group to split their orders, but the practical point is the timing: this is a breakfast-and-lunch stop first.

Come back from 5:00pm and the stall changes character. Chicken, beef, mutton and chicken-skin satay are served with ketupat, onion, cucumber and homemade peanut sauce. If I were planning the route, I would choose sup tulang before noon or satay after the evening grills start; arriving in the gap is the least useful timing.

Mohd Kamaruzam’s stall is at Best Friend Cafe, RH Plaza Commercial Centre, Kuching. It operates daily from 6:00am–1:00pm and 5:00pm–11:00pm, except Wednesday; hours can still shift, so check before making a special trip.

For a visitor, this is an easy two-window food stop: sup tulang in the morning, satay in the evening, and no need to force both into one visit. Would you choose the bone-marrow soup first, or wait for the satay grill?
